Standing Alone For Souls!

jessierenanellOver the summer, my brother and I ministered in Taiwan with ten other students, teaching in English-Character camps. I had a most incredible time seeing God work in so many ways! The following example of standing alone is just one of the many stories of how the Lord worked in and through us while there.

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us” (Hebrews 12:1).

It was the evening of the last day of our very last camp. Josh, one of our team members, went down to have dessert with the Chinese children and assistants. They had music playing and started dancing to it. Before long, it became quite sensual and obnoxious, not at all appropriate for children, let alone adults! Josh was quite disturbed and walked out.

Seeing this, the college-aged helpers sought him out and asked what was wrong. He was able to share with them that because of having Christ living in his life, he couldn’t watch or partake in such sin. They saw their error and were very repentant. Two of them wanted to pray and accept Christ in their heart. They had a meeting to attend, so asked Josh if he could pray with them later. After the meeting, we watched in amazement, as a whole group of them filed into the room where Josh was, wanting to hear more about his Savior!

After he laid the whole story of salvation before them, those who wanted to pray stayed and were able to talk and pray one-on-one with us. Then four more girls came in to apologize to Josh and walked out believers, too! Eleven souls were saved that night! We never could have dreamed that something so sinful and evil could be turned into something SO wonderful!

taiwangroupI’d heard stories of how God worked through difficult circumstances and brought souls to Him, but had never experienced it personally. This was a crystal-clear example to me of how God truly blesses those who stand alone for Him. It was so amazing to witness, and I’m sure none of us will ever forget that night!

I am still in awe of what God did on our trip! Before going, I had asked God to use me and increase my faith, but I never could have imagined all that God, working in me and through us, would do! His ways are so much higher than our ways and His thoughts beyond our comprehension!
