Desktop Publishing 101

Achieve an understanding of the entire publishing process, and gain experience in layout and design using QuarkXPress® 7 and Adobe® PhotoShop® CS2, two of the most powerful desktop publishing programs available.

What kind of software and computers will be used in the course?

Students will be trained to use the following software programs:

  • QuarkXPress® 7
    An industry-leading desktop publishing and layout software, QuarkXPress is currently used by the majority of publishing houses in the United States. QuarkXPress combines text, pictures, and art.
  • Adobe® Photoshop® CS2
    Photoshop is highly regarded throughout the graphic arts industry. With it, advanced users can crop, re-size, perform color-corrections, re-touch, and export to a variety of formats.
